Kwik Kopy’s ‘Bringing your ideas to life’ competition was launched in October 2013, and invited small businesses to submit an entry explaining in 100 words or less why their company needed a new website. Five websites were up for grabs with each prize package valued at $10,000. More than 500 entries were received in total, with 50 finalists reviewed by a panel of internal and external experts.
QLD Winner – Horizons College of Learning and Enrichment
Worklinks Inc is the operating body for Horizons College, a Special Assistance School established to provide assistance to young people for whom mainstream education is not meaningful. The college opened in April 2014 with grades 9 and 10, with plans to eventually accept enrolments for other high school year levels.
Worklinks Inc has been doing business with Kwik Kopy for 5 years. They purchase typical office supplies and stationery including letterhead and business cards, as well as odd jobs like certificates and posters. Steve heard about the competition via an email campaign encouraging him to enter to win a $10,000 website.
Their previous website was not sufficient in meeting the needs of the school. It didn’t have a user friendly content management system (CMS) so whenever there were changes, they had to send them through to someone else. This left a gap between the schools marketing initiatives and the content that was live on the website. The previous website wasn’t mobile friendly either.
The real advantage of working with Kwik Kopy was reliability and tasks being completed on time. Lots of friendly advice was also provided about add-on features that could be applied to the website.

We custom developed a theme which, using the CMS editor, allows users with back end access at the college to insert rich features outside of just text. This was a really important aspect for the college to have a more flexible website solution. One example is the homepage which includes a visual grid of their key services.
It has been an enriching experience working with Horizons College to redesign their website. After completing the site, it was really rewarding to arrive back at the school a few weeks later to see both the students and faculty using the website and feeling positive about their future.
