Kwik Kopy Gosford graphic designer wins national Red Flame Design Award to create campaign for Red Cross
April 2011
Kwik Kopy Gosford’s in-house graphic designer Kathie D'Mello has taken out the top prize at this year’s national Red Flame Design Awards with a direct mail campaign created to support the Australian Red Cross.
This year’s competition entrants were tasked with designing a direct mail campaign which will be implemented by the Australian Red Cross to raise funds towards humanitarian projects in both Australia and the Asia Pacific.
"Through this initiative, the winning concept will allow us to raise money to directly assist vulnerable people here and overseas. We thank all the entrants for their efforts to help Red Cross mobilise the power of humanity by starting a conversation with thousands of Australians,” said Robert Ticker, CEO, Australian Red Cross.
This is the fourth year of the Red Flame Design competition which is open to all designers within Kwik Kopy Centres nationwide. “The Awards were designed to foster and reward the great design being produced throughout the Kwik Kopy Australia network. It’s fantastic to be also able to offer them the opportunity to help the Australian Red Cross develop a new income stream.
“We’re proud to use the Awards to support the Australian Red Cross and show that great design can make a practical and measurable difference to campaigns that help thousands of vulnerable people.”
The awards were primarily judged by the Red Cross with input from independent design professionals and the Kwik Kopy marketing team. In addition to supporting the Red Cross, Kathie wins a Mac Book Pro 15" loaded with the full Creative Suite (CS5) software from Adobe.
“To win such an award means an awful lot to me and gives me an incredible boost in confidence,” said Kathie. “Working with Kwik Kopy, I am learning all the time and have an incredibly strong support structure around me to encourage me to develop my design skills. Being also able to support the humanitarian works of Red Cross is the icing on the cake!”
Kathie will now work at the forefront of the campaign, with some of the best marketing and design people in the country to develop her design into a live campaign. Kathie will also be co-ordinating the printing and distribution of the campaign from the Kwik Kopy Gosford centre on the Central Coast.
